Walk, jog or run your way to victory while helping the incredible Pink Ribbon Foundation raise vital funds for breast cancer support and research.

Take a look at what’s in store for the first virtual run for charity of many to come.

What is a Virtual Run?

virtual run for charity

A virtual run is a community-driven race that can be run at any location at any time, any way you want.

Hit the pavement and jog around the park, take a walk through the city or go hard on the treadmill, it doesn’t matter how you do it, all that matters is you’re taking part. Choose the race length that suits you and do the virtual run your way.

There are so many ways to complete your virtual run. Get a running group together for motivational competitiveness or do it solo for personal satisfaction. The race doesn’t even have to be done in one go, as long as you get to the milestone, it doesn’t matter how you did it!

Join hundreds of other runners all around the world and work towards the finish line together, helping a good cause along the way.

The Booband virtual run for charity can be done as a 2k, 5k or 10k and you’ll even get specially made Booband X Pink Ribbon Foundation medal.

The Pink Ribbon Foundation

We’re not doing this alone, we’ve partnered with Pink Ribbon Foundation to help raise money for breast cancer charities and research. £2 of every entry to the Booband virtual run for charity will directly to Pink Ribbon Foundation. So not only will you be smashing your fitness goals, you’ll be helping relieve the needs of those living with breast cancer and funding vital research to detect and treat breast cancer.

In 2014 alone, there were around 55,200 new cases of breast cancer diagnosed in the UK, averaging at 150 cases per day. Pink Ribbon Foundation is on a mission to help reduce these shocking statistics.

The Foundation is a grant making trust, meaning that any money they raise is delegated to charities that do the important legwork. A small group of trustees, patrons and ambassadors work tirelessly to maximise the engagement and money raised from the public.

Any charity in the field of breast cancer can apply for a grant from Pink Ribbon Foundation and the money they award can be a massive help in furthering the efforts of a charity.

More than 100 charities have already benefited from the help given by Pink Ribbon Foundation and with your help, so can even more.

The Booband X Pink Ribbon Foundation virtual run is just one of the ways you can support the fight against breast cancer. You can learn more about ways to fundraise for the charity on their website.

Celebrity Support for our Virtual Run for Charity

Breast cancer can happen to anyone at any time, it’s a horrible disease with no clear causes and no miracle cure. Pink Ribbon Foundation’s cause and our help with the virtual run for charity has gathered interest from well-known females in the celebrity world.

Hayley Sparkes is a TV presenter, fashion guru and makeup artist, most well known for her appearances on This Morning and presenting content online for leading UK brands.

Hayley is the picture of health, but that wasn’t always the case. She was diagnosed with a serious bowel disease when she was just seven and spent the next decade in and out of hospital for various treatments. Today, she understands the plight of suffering from a disease and has pledged her allegiance to help us raise vital funds with our virtual run for charity.

Also lending her best chest to the cause is actress Sunetra Sarker. Sunetra first took a step into the limelight in 1988 in Liverpool based soap, Brookside before landing her most famous role in hospital drama Casualty, where she played Dr Zoe Hanna for nearly 10 years.

Sunetra has a history of showing her support for breast cancer awareness and was more than happy to be a part of our EnduRing campaign in 2016. Now, she’s dusting off her trainers and hitting the pavement to encourage more people to take the plunge and complete our virtual run for charity.
