FAQs

Why should I wear a Boobuddy/Booband?
It has been estimated that during high-energy, high-impact sports women’s breasts can move up to ten or more centimetres. This multi-directional movement can cause breast pain, which affects one in three women, according to a University of Portsmouth study. Not only can exercising with poorly supported breasts cause pain and sagging, it can cause embarrassment and put women off physical activity.

How do I wear my Boobuddy/Booband?
Place the Boobuddy/Booband above the breasts but under the arms. Correct positioning will comfortably compress the breasts and reduce both vertical and lateral movement.

Do I wear Boobuddy/Booband instead of a sports bra?
Boobuddy/Booband can be worn both instead of a sports bra or in addition - this is based on personal comfort and if you wear it with a sports bra we recommend wearing the Boobuddy/Booband above the bra for comfort. Please note, a good sports bra provides breast support and the Boobuddy/Booband reduces movement and prevents bounce, worn together they will provide maximum support and comfort.

When should I wear Boobuddy/Booband?
Wearing your Boobuddy/Booband is important for occasional exercise as it is for regular exercise. It is also important for all types of physical activity, including both low- and high-impact activities, and exercise of short and long duration.

Do I have to be fitted by a professional to wear Boobuddy/Booband?
No, the velcro panel can be adjusted to fit. The band must be tight enough to prevent slipping but not so tight that it restricts breathing. The lengths of our bands are on our sizing chart below, if you measure under your arms and use this measurement together with your dress size, it will help you ascertain the most accurate size for you - please take into consideration the elastic nature of the fabric so it will stretch further than the measurement we provide.

What size Boobuddy/Booband's are available?
Boobuddy/Booband's are currently available in small and medium for all colours, and size large is available in black. Use your dress size to determine what size Boobuddy/Booband to choose, the table below shows the size you'll need based on the dress sizes by country:

I'd like to purchase a Boobuddy/Booband but I'm not sure what size to go for, I think I might be able to fit in two sizes?
If you fall between sizes we recommend opting for the smaller of the sizes. This is because Boobuddy/Booband is elasticated and can be customised to fit using the velcro panel. You want the band to fit around the top of your chest, but not be too big you end up with lots of excess material after fastening.

There is additional material at the end of my Boobuddy/Booband?
Our online sizing chart provides the length of our Boobuddy/Boobands in centimetres together with the dress size to help you choose the best size Boobuddy/Booband for you. As we recommend the band is fastened tightly to reduce movement, but not so tight it restricts breathing, you may be left with an extra length of material. If you prefer to wear your band under a sports bra then this isn't usually a problem, but for those of you who prefer to wear it over the top we recommend flipping the band to prevent the overhang getting in the way. The band is designed to be worn with either side of the band facing outwards.

I’m small-chested, can I still wear a Boobuddy/Booband?
Yes, whatever you breast size you still need to prevent breast movement and protect your ligaments.

My Boobuddy/Booband keeps moving/slipping?
The Boobuddy/Booband has been designed to sit above the breasts, and the fully adjustable velcro fastening allows the band to be adjusted to any size to prevent movement and slipping, but of course not too tight that is restricts breathing. Please see the above FAQ 'How do I wear my Boobuddy/Booband?' for the correct positioning.

How often should I replace my Boobuddy/Booband?
How often you need to replace your Boobuddy/Booband will depend on a number of factors, including how often you wear it and how often you wash it.

How do I care for my Boobuddy/Booband?
Your Boobuddy/Booband will have a longer life if you follow the washing instructions enclosed with your Boobuddy/Booband. We recommend hand washing your Boobuddy/Booband with a delicate detergent - a machine wash may stretch the elastic. Do not tumble dry your Boobuddy/Booband – drip dry flat.

Why does exercise cause breast pain and sagging?
Exercise, especially high-impact exercise such as running or jumping, places tension on the supporting structures of the breast, which can result in pain. As there there are no muscles in the breast the only supporting structures are the skin and the Coopers ligaments – thin, paper-like tissues that weave throughout the breast and attach to the chest wall. It is thought that sagging, which is irreversible, occurs when these ligaments are overstretched.

What are the differences between a Boobuddy and a Booband?
Booband is now known as Boobuddy. The quality and performance of the two products is exactly the same, it's just the name that is different.

Can I use my Boobuddy whilst breastfeeding?
We do not advise using the band while breastfeeding due to the compressive nature of the fabric. Although the band is designed to sit just above the breasts, medical advice is that compression of the whole chest area is not advised during breastfeeding.
